Joining a playgroup will be one of the most fulfilling and rewarding benefits of your Santa Rosa Mothers' Club (SRMC) membership. It is an opportunity for yourself and your child/children to form incredible bonds and friendships with other SRMC members. Upon joining the SRMC, you can search for an open playgroup in the newsletter or by contacting the current Playgroup Coordinator. Playgroups are typically age-based; however, the SRMC does offer "playgroups with a twist," such as those for working moms and Spanish speakers.
Each playgroup is an intimate group (5 to 8 members) of women and their children. The majority of playgroups meet on a weekly basis, either outside at a park when the weather cooperates or at members' homes during inclement weather. Each group will schedule a day and time to meet. It is normal for schedules to change over time; we all know nap times are forever evolving!
Each playgroup is autonomous and is encouraged to make its own guidelines. One member from each group will act as a "Playgroup Representative." The Playgroup Representative, among other duties, is responsible for being the liaison between the SRMC Playgroup Coordinator and the playgroup members. She is also responsible for providing all of the playgroup members with an updated roster of the group and the group's individual guidelines.
When looking into playgroups, remember that each playgroup develops its own personality and style. If you do not find an existing playgroup that works for you, you are encouraged to start your own playgroup. You may participate in more than one playgroup if your schedule allows.
Please contact the Playgroup Coordinator if you have any questions regarding existing groups or have interest in starting a new playgroup.
