Children’s Museum Fundraising Drive

Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Children’s Museum of the North Bay Fundraising Drive! We are making great progress in our effort to raise $1,000 for the Children’s Museum of the North Bay. So far, our generous members have donated just over $500 to help us reach our goal. We still have a month left in our drive and are looking for a few more members to contribute to this great cause.
Collette Michaud, Founder and President of the CMNB, was nice enough to come and speak to us at the Silent Auction about her vision for the museum. She rightly pointed out that Sonoma County is in need of a great place for our kids to play that offers the right balance of education and fun. An organization like the CMNB would be a great asset to our community. Please help us make this dream a reality.Checks should be made payable to the SRMC. If you have any questions contact Katie McMullen.

The Living Room Clothing and Gift Drive

Lori Barekman will be coordinating the drive for items for The Living Room, which is a day shelter for homeless women and children in Santa Rosa. They are VERY worried about receiving enough items this year. This is a long list but don't be intimidated...whatever you can do helps:

For their Christmas store: new children's toys and adult gifts (the women buy these items by earning points through chores at the shelter.)

For Santa's visit: gifts for children (no soft toys please) and adults...they serve people from 0 to 80 years old.

High need items are:
• New underwear (kids to adults...especially ladies’ sizes 8 and up)
• Diapers (especially sizes 5 and 6)
• Sanitary pads and tampons (they are out right now)
• Anything for cold or rainy weather (especially socks, gloves, scarves, hats, blankets, coats, sleeping bags and umbrellas)
• Stocking stuffer items
• Date books
• Gift cards for teenagers (movies, clothes)
• Handheld games
• Arts and crafts supplies
• Cosmetic bags
• Large shampoos
• Hair accessories (brushes, combs, clips, scrunchies)

Also, they are now feeding 60-80 people 2 meals a day and have been running out of items like oatmeal packets, packets of hot cocoa, tea (especially herbal) and dry cereal.

Items need to be turned in to The Living Room by December 12 (the store and dinner party are the next week) so what I hope to do is have boxes at SRMC meetings and also several different members houses
to have as drop off places. Please let as many other people as you can know about the drive so that we can really help out this worthy organization. This year, they have a place donated to store and sort
these items.

Please see the December newsletter for drop-off locations or contact Lori Barekman.
